Ok, so you got the bright idea that you’re going to make your own dumplings. Or maybe there’s other stuff that you want to steam. Great! Now, honestly, you maybe can search on marketplace or your local swap meet for these things and even find one in good shape that you can restore, I did that once. I drove almost 30 miles to a place I wasn’t sure would have what I wanted, spent $10 on one that was “ok” but after I started, I just couldn’t get it to a state where I was comfortable using it (there was a large dent that we just couldn’t smooth out enough). I strongly encourage that route to save some cash, but be prepared to sink a few hours of restoration into it if you do.

If you’re going to steam things – check out this basket I found, and have used the living daylights out of, and it’s still steaming like a champ. You can fit about 30 dumplings in one of these at a time (depending on size). It is possible to get anywhere from 14-18 gyoza too with good spacing, I don’t like to overcrowd, I just run another batch if I’m doing hors d’oeuvres.
